Comedy Central recently released a new study, “Fandom,” that reveals a whole new world of passionate young people who see being self-professed experts as their key defining trait.

Young people believe that being a fan is different now than in their parents’ day, and that fandom has broadened into niche areas. Most believe you can be a fan of almost anything today.

On average, young people are claiming expertise in 5 areas—with the most common subjects being movies, music, TV, mobile phones, and technology.
